FAQ - Dog Christmas Advent Calendar
Q: What's inside the Dog Christmas Advent Calendar?
A: 24 single-ingredient meat treats, one behind each door. The calendar includes a mix of rabbit, elk, venison, beaver, and bison, in a variety of formats and textures.
Q: Are the treats single-ingredient?
A: Yes. Every treat in the calendar is made from one protein and nothing else. No fillers, no additives, and no artificial preservatives.
Q: Is the advent calendar suitable for dogs with allergies?
A: Each treat is single-ingredient, and all five proteins are novel proteins that many sensitive dogs do well with. Because the calendar includes five different proteins, if your dog has a known allergy to any one of them, you may prefer to choose one of our single-protein treats instead.
Q: When should my dog start the calendar?
A: The calendar is designed to start on December 1 and finish on December 24, one treat per day leading up to Christmas.
Q: Is it safe for small dogs and puppies?
A: Yes. Treats can easily be broken into smaller pieces for small breeds or puppies. As with any new treat, introduce slowly and supervise your dog while they enjoy it.
Q: Can cats enjoy the treats too?
A: The calendar is designed with dogs in mind. Our treats are made from the same clean, single-ingredient proteins, so if you'd like something for your cat, have a look at our Cat Treats collection.
Q: Are the treats raw or cooked?
A: Our treats are gently dehydrated and/or freeze dried to preserve natural nutrients while remaining shelf-stable and safe for everyday feeding.
Q: How should I store the advent calendar?
A: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep it somewhere your dog can't reach, because they will figure out what's inside.
Q: Does the calendar make a good gift?
A: Absolutely. It's one of the easiest gifts for the dog lover in your life, whether that's family, a friend, your dog walker, or your groomer.
Q: When should I order to make sure it arrives before December 1?
A: We recommend ordering early in the season to allow for holiday shipping times. Free shipping is available on orders over $100.
Q: Where are Shades of Gray treats made?
A: All Shades of Gray treats are proudly made in Canada by an Indigenous-owned business, at our Alderville First Nation facility using federally inspected meat. Our rabbit is raised on our own farm in Ontario, and every other protein is farmed in Canada.
I bought the dog advent calender and was truly disappointed by the treat sizes. I bought 5, 3 for small to medium and 2 for large sized dogs. The portions were even small for my 13lb dog. The packaging also is flimsy. The treats were all over the place with half of them not even in their slots. All the treats were dried out since the packing wasn't sealed. I've been eyeing this brand for a while and this is the first time I have purchased. I definitely won't buy again since the value is not there.
Great as always
Such a great calendar! My dog loves it. It’s has been a great way to sample the different treats to see if my dog would like the different kids. I’ll definitely be ordering some more pouches of his favourites!
