HEALTHY PROTEINS
Rabbit Protein

While experts in animal health continue to explore the optimal nutritional formula for our pets, an all-natural solution has been in front of us all along—provided by nature herself. This solution is non-processed, raw meat. At Shades of Gray, we believe this is no secret to keep, but rather, knowledge to be shared to enhance the lives of numerous dogs, cats, and even exotic animals.
Our mission is to increase understanding of the numerous health advantages offered by raw and dehydrated pet food products made entirely of meat. These products offer significant nutritional benefits for our pets, potentially contributing to a healthier, longer life as nature originally intended.
SHOP RABBIT TREATS
An 85gram serving of uncooked rabbit has only 96 calories, according to the USDA. It also delivers about 18 grams of protein, fewer than 2 grams of fat and no carbohydrates. Compared to other meats, particularly beef, rabbit has very little fat.
This means that pets fat intake is better controlled and regulated by consuming rabbit than any other protein, apart from free range chicken. High fat diets are a major killer of not only humans but of a lot of pets as wells, especially indoor cats.
Rabbit meat is lower in cholesterol than most other protein sources, containing minimum amounts of saturated fats. The healthy fats in rabbit meat will keep your dog or cat’s joints lubricated and coat shiny.
Rabbit meat is an excellent source of vitamin B12 which works to ensure that a dog or cat’s nervous system functions properly. It is also needed for normal cell growth. If your dog or cat is acting sluggish, it may be because they are lacking B12. Vitamin B12 really helps maintain their energy level.
Rabbit fur in small volumes is great for Carnivore digestion processes. It follows a natural process that would occur in the wild. The fur also helps to clean the teeth when chewed, not unlike your own toothbrush which vastly improves dental hygiene of your pet. The bone is also rich in marrow and calcium which offers some much needed naturally occurring sources of vitamins and core compounds fundamental in bone growth.
Bison Protein

For those looking for leaner alternatives to beef for their pets, bison is a great option. Bison has a similar texture, flavor, and appearance to beef but in a leaner and more nutrient-dense meat. Even humans have found it to be a great alternative to beef.
Compared to beef, bison is lower in calories, fat, and saturated fat. It is higher in protein, omega-3 fatty acids, iron, selenium, and certain B vitamins. This less common meat can provide a healthier alternative to beef.
Our mission is to increase understanding of the numerous health advantages offered by raw and dehydrated pet food products made entirely of meat. These products offer significant nutritional benefits for our pets, potentially contributing to a healthier, longer life as nature originally intended.
SHOP BISON TREATS
These vitamins help convert the nutrients from foods pets eat into the useable energy needed for their bodies as well as supporting multiple metabolic functions and overall brain health.
Selenium is a necessary mineral that acts as an antioxidant and eating bison is another great way to boost your pet’s intake. Selenium, a necessary mineral, acts as an antioxidant that fights inflammation, and helps prevent the oxidative stress that causes cellular damage and the aging process.
Bison meat is a great way to naturally acquire zinc. Zinc is critical for proper immune system and cellular functioning. Bison meat is high in iron. It’s what gives the meat its bright red color that makes it noticeably different from beef or poultry. The iron in animal products is more absorbable than the kind found in plant foods and more effective for preventing low energy, immune system suppression and other anemia symptoms.
Elk & Venison Protein

Elk and Venison (deer) meat is good for pets as it is low in fat and cholesterol. With its natural lean red meat, it is a healthier protein source for dogs and cats compared to other pet food proteins such as beef or chicken.
Venison has high nutritional content. Venison is rich in iron, niacin, riboflavin and B vitamins. Unlike beef, the latter also contains a higher level of Omega 3 fatty acid.
SHOP ELK & VENISON TREATS
Like most natural novel protein choices (beaver, rabbit, bison) Elk and Venison do not have the added hormones common to most pet food proteins (beef, duck, chicken). This lack of additive hormones can really help pets that suffer from hormone imbalances and is particularly beneficial to puppies or kittens who are still growing. Additive hormones can have many unpleasant side effects in pets.
